The Internet Explorer 6 Countdown

March 7th, 2011 by Lars-Georg Paulsen

10 years ago a browser was born.
Its name was Internet Explorer 6. Now that we’re in 2011, in an era of modern web standards, it’s time to say goodbye. This website is dedicated to watching Internet Explorer 6 usage drop to less than 1% worldwide, so more websites can choose to drop support for Internet Explorer 6, saving hours of work for web developers

Support the cause by joining the movement! Let’s get rid of a really old old browser!

Bluewatersailing

February 26th, 2011 by Lars-Georg Paulsen

The last couple of months, I’ve been working on a new webpage for some friends. They’re going on a “round the world” trip this year, and needed some help setting up a site.

Good old WordPress does the job. And after finding a free theme, tweaked it, and added some new cool features like satellite tracking . It was up to Magnus and Martin to add content.

Content and some really nice pictures was uploaded, and with some help getting used to wordpress as a CMS, some small layout adjustment and some tips&tricks from me, the site has now be launched!

Check out their new site @ http://www.bluewatersailing.no

New Gadgets, HDR photos and TimeLapse

Sometimes you surf around the internet, and suddenly you find something cool or interesting.
This time I came over something called Time-lapse.

From wiki;
Time-lapse photography is a cinematography technique whereby the frequency at which film frames are captured (the frame rate) is much lower than that which will be used to play the sequence back. When replayed at normal speed, time appears to be moving faster and thus lapsing.

And since we are in the planning stage of building a new house… how cool would it be to timelapse the house building?
Time to get some equipment. Silje had an old Canon 350D, but then we needed to get a new one for her……

Off to see what we could get, ended up with a brand new Canon EOS 555D.
It’s a big difference between the 350D and the 550D, and after some test picture, you can see the difference was huge! And while crawling around on the web, searching for cool things to do with the new camera, I came over something called HDR. I’ve heard about the technique before, but now I had the equipment to do it myself, check out my first HDR pictures above.

There are also some test “time-lapse” movie that will be published shortly.
(and there are even more gadgets incoming….)

There is a quick fix that worked for me.

One line 222
Remove ‘tests’ from the SUBDIR variable.

Surfing Morocco, skiing in Hemsedal

January 16th, 2010 by Lars-Georg Paulsen

December was one of the best month last year. Went to Morocco for a week on a surf holiday on the 12th of December, coming back to celebrate Christmas with my family, and then headed for Hemsedal for some wicked skiing and partying over new years!

Apparently it’s only suppose to rain about 5 days during December. Guess we got lucky and got about all of them. But lucky for us, it usually only rained during the morning. And the rain didn’t bother us that much. We where in the water anyway. We stayed at Surf Berbere, and small surf camp in Taghazout. Atmosphere and the people there where great, and is definitely a place we can recommend for other who is going to Morocco for a surf! Just remember one thing…. It’s a dry town, so bring spirits! The guys at the camp organizes a beer-run into Agadir, so you place an order with them..

Silje, the sexy ghettosmurf

New Years eve in Hemsedal was blast, but I somehow lost my camera between the After-Ski, and the cabin…. So no pictures..

I’ve also just ordered a SBC unit from Phidget.com, so my water level project is under construction. More on that at a later stages.

Just wanna wish everyone a happy new year.. and let 2010 be even more extraordinary then 2009. Bring it on!
